Nati in Inghilterra nel XVII secolo gli orologi che fanno ascoltare un suono, videro competere molti orologiai: Barrow chiese al Re Carlo II il brevetto per essere l’unico a realizzarli (essendo anche stato il primo). Però anche Tompion e Quare fecero orologi analoghi e Quare ne presentò al Re Giacomo II uno talmente preciso che la richiesta di Barrow non fu accolta.
Watches with sonnerie were born during XVII Century in Great Britain; Barrow asked the King to be the only patented, but also Tompion and Quare made similar watches and the patent was not granted.
